Job Description:

The Senior Business Analyst will focus on understanding and analyzing the business needs. He/she defines the scope of the project and/or change request with the project sponsor(s), business coordinator(s) and/or process owner(s).

The Senior Business Analyst collects, consolidates and transfers the business needs to the IT team, in order to design efficient business and operational applications to support the 'core organizational functions and business processes’ (by describing the AS IS, defining the TO BE and performing GAP analysis). Moreover, he/she must watch over the quality of these processes, as well as the consistency and connection of these processes throughout the organization.


Acquiring a thorough understanding of the functioning of the Business Model:

  • The Senior BA builds a thorough knowledge of the business processes and needs of the organization and assigned business areas.
  • The Senior BA holds the acquired business and system knowledge up to date and sets it up before the execution of the projects.

Managing the Business/IT relationships and related communication:

  • The Senior BA provides initial support in finding solutions.
  • The Senior BA collects and analyzes the relevant data supporting the implementation of projects and/or minor changes.
  • The Senior BA facilitates the Go/No Go decisions of the business.

Collecting, analyzing, refining, questioning, streamlining, documenting and maintaining business needs (“business requirements"):

  • The Senior BA acquires a clear understanding of the expectations and the problems of the business based on analytical and communication skills.
  • The Senior BA assesses and validates the necessity of any business requirement which he/ she is assigned to.
  • The Senior BA ensures the definition of the clarity of the requirements, including the identification and treatment of conflicting requirements.
  • The Senior BA gives his/her input on determining the relevance of the respective requirements for the business.
  • The Senior BA communicates with different departments/teams (business (key users), developers and IT teams).

Enabling the realization of change:

  • The Senior BA finalizes the descriptions of projects and/or minor changes and he/she provides the necessary validation.
  • The Senior BA defines the final content, budget, timing, small changes and performs the follow-up activities.
  • The Senior BA is responsible for the testing and documentation of the developed solutions, by means of issuing test scenarios, ensuring the execution of the tests and logging test results and the guidance of the user acceptance testing.
  • The Senior BA ensures the training of key users.

Supporting the business (architectural) direction and roadmap:

  • The Senior BA uses information models, standards for data libraries, tools and best practices to design optimal business solutions and plans.
  • The Senior BA checks the architectural compliance and supports the creation and maintenance of a quality plan.
  • The Senior BA contributes to the architectural Go/No Go decision on how to implement solutions, through his/her participation in brainstorming sessions of design teams for the introduction of new applications (or modifications to existing applications) to improve business processes and information flows.

Essential skills & Knowledge:

  • Master’s degree;
  • Professional experience in the insurance sector (Life and/or Non-Life);
  • Affinity with one or more of the following topics: PRIIPS, AML;
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience as a Business Analyst (requirements, clarification, challenge users, process descriptions);
  • Familiar with best practices and tools for Business Solutions Architecture;
  • A distinct process-oriented thinker with experience in the field of processes and/or process improvements. Knowledge of modeling techniques for structuring and analyzing processes, information and business specifications is recommended;
  • Combine an assertive and persuasive communication with diplomacy and a great willingness to listen;
  • Work autonomously as well as transversely;
  • Demonstrate both results and a customer focus;
  • Speak Dutch or French and English or German, both in speech and in writing;
  • An expert in the field of MS Office applications;
  • Familiar with ADONIS or similar BPM tool.
