Manager Business Development – B2B Payments - Western Europe Division

Major Accountabilities:

As the Manager Business Development you will be part of the central, pan-Western Europe Business Development team.

Business development covers all major traditional opportunities as well as exploring and building new business opportunities with non-traditional customers (e.g. retailers, digital players, governments…) and includes projects to roll-out innovation across the markets.

The role will focus on the development and growth of B2B payments which is one of the key strategic objectives for the Western Europe Division.

Build and Leverage Subject Matter Expertise for the Division

  • Understand the competitive landscape and ecosystem, including new developments and technologies
  • Be an ‘industry voice’ for Mastercard by attending relevant conferences & events in the Western Europe Division
  • Build a Mastercard presence in the B2B sector

Lead and coordinate Business Development efforts at Divisional level

  • Work in close collaboration with the Western Europe Core Product and European Commercial Product Teams
  • Partner with Country BD teams and B2B Country Leads on key selected initiatives and opportunities
  • Develop new Business Development plans through the provision of appropriate market intelligence and robust market opportunity assessment and various analysis

Identify and engage with external partners

  • Identify partners from the B2B ecosystem (e.g. Procure-to-Pay networks or other technology partners) which could help improve Mastercard and/or Mastercard B2B issuers value propositions
  • Engage with those partners on specific business opportunities

Develop a Direct-to-Corporate approach

  • In collaboration with country BD and B2B Leads, identify a consolidated list of Corporates to be approached
  • Partner with identified and selected Mastercard B2B issuers to develop and pitch a compelling value-proposition and support those issuers to win RFPs with sizeable corporates.

Next to the B2B focus, the Manager Business Development will also have the opportunity to contribute and lead other business development initiatives with non-traditional customers.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • University degree in Economics or Business (advanced degree preferred)
  • Experience in B2B payments and/or transaction banking. Ideally experience in a corporate banking team (commercial card sales)
  • Project management, ability to drive projects both internally and externally
  • Proactive with an entrepreneurial approach and vision
  • Have a combination of strategic and commercial mindset
  • Outstanding communication skills both in English from a written, verbal and presentation perspective. Any other language(s) from the Western Europe division is a strong advantage
