JOB DESCRIPTION
The Operational Risk Manager's goal is to deliver the operational risk framework within an agreed-upon timeframe by executing and adopting the Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF). The ORMF includes risk identification, assessment, management, monitoring, and reporting of operational risks, with particular focus on scenario analysis, controls assessment, risk analytics and insight, risk appetite elements, and MI reporting.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities:
- Oversee operational risk management in the day-to-day execution and management of the operational risk framework, including key risk management activities such as operational risk incident reporting and error resolution, operational risk and control assessment, new product risk assessment, setting of Key Risk Indicators, and training of risk owners to promote awareness of operational risk.
- Support the Chief Risk Officer in rolling out the operational risk framework and strategy for iBanFirst within an agreed-upon timeframe, with particular emphasis on the risk and control assessments. This includes defining the operational risk governance, top risks reporting, risk appetite and tolerance metrics, strong control inventory framework, scenario analysis, and MI reporting.
- Support the Chief Risk Officer in managing and constantly improving the Board Risk Committee reports to ensure the dashboard on risk performance is well developed and appropriate.
- Own and drive the process of embedding the operational risk framework throughout the business areas and contribute to the risk and control culture of iBanFirst through knowledge sharing and awareness on the importance of risk management.
- Organise and facilitate workshops for process mapping of key business processes, the identification and assessment of inherent business risks and controls.
- Influence and monitor progress of action plans to improve the risk and control environment arising from risk assessments, risk monitoring, internal and external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Engage with stakeholders at senior management levels and Risk and Compliance functions providing support for risk-based decision making and assurance that controls are functioning well within the first line of defense.
- Develop and deploy a control framework for management of outsourcing risk and provide oversight, monitoring and challenge to the 1st Line to ensure no degradation in the outsourced service performance that may result in material risk.
- Act as second line of defence to ensure the business continuity plan remains fit for purpose and participate in the tests to ensure appropriate control environment.
- Build and maintain credible relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including external and internal audits.
- Promote an appropriate culture of awareness and attention to operational risk throughout iBanFirst in line with evolving regulatory requirements by embedding the three lines of defense and enhancing the operational risk reporting and governance.
- Give quality advice, guidance and training to the business lines so that the business owners can manage its risks and meet its regulatory obligations
REQUIREMENTS
Business Knowledge/Technical Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications in operational risk management are a plus.
- At least five years of experience in operational risk management within the financial services industry. However, strong candidates with transferable operational risk experience within other industries will also be considered.
- Experience in change leadership or transformation within the operational risk environment.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills with ability to work a fair degree of autonomy and demonstrate initiative and accountability, but remain a team player and enjoy contributing in a cooperative environment.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Ability to work in a dynamic business and simultaneously demonstrate experience working on several projects.
- A “can-do” attitude and take ownership of the assigned tasks.
- Ability to work well in a small, collaborative team.
- High standards of oral & written French and English are mandatory.
- Fluency in other European languages (e.g. German, Spanish, Dutch etc.) is desirable.
