Global Financial Controller

The Opportunity:
ADB Safegate is seeking to recruit a new Global Financial Controller who will play a significant role in the Finance Team and reports to the Group Controlling Director. Focus will be on (i) the Airfield Business lines and more in particular financial control of their capex and opex as well as project control of the R&D projects (2/3 of time) and (ii) G&A control for IT, HR and Finance primarily (1/3 of time)
Being based at the Group global HQ based in Zaventem, the Global Financial Controller will oversee and monitor an effective control environment and provide information and advice to the Leadership team.
The main responsibilities in this role are:
Financial Planning and Analyses
- Support the performance management cycle across the organization both on short (yearly budget) and long-term (strategic planning);
- Support management in the resource allocation and critical business and financial analysis (purchasing savings, growth initiatives, etc...);
- Further develop and upgrade the annual budget process. On one side ensures link to the long-term strategic dialogue/financial planning and, on the other side, makes sure it key elements are reflected in the yearly budget;
- Company resource allocation, to make sure resources are put where ADB Safegate creates most value;
- Provides support & financial analysis to the global strategic initiatives;
- Manage financial evaluation of CAPEX;
- Preparation of the R&D and Business Sustainability financial planning and Budget process: gathering and loading the information in the systems, tracking the evolution during the year, support the team with adequate visibility of the figures, manage and allocate the challenges received;
- Gathering important commercial data and compiling it into reports business managers can use while enabling them to drive fact-based decision-making. Analysing profitability and developing improvement plans for the region, monitoring KPI tracking and suggesting actions to close gaps-to-plan;
- Overseeing operating costs and expenses (General & Administrative expenses (G&A) - personnel costs, supplier costs, marketing and communication expenses, etc.) for the various Group entities.
Financial Control
- Collaborate, design, implement and review finance systems, policies and procedures to ensure continuous improvement and up to date relevant practices;
- Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management;
- Ensure compliance with IFRS and be up to date on IFRS developments;
- Monitor and ensure adherence to ADB’s reporting requirements in accordance with IFRS;
- Manage relationships with auditors and manage audit timelines including accounting issues for internal and external regulatory reporting;
- Responsible for the reliability of external reporting (e.g. annual statutory financial statements;
- Preparing and ensuring a high quality of the recurring management reporting and business analysis of the financial performance of the Group.
The talent we want to inspire has...
- University degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering or another relevant domain;
- Experience at one of the Big 4 is an advantage as is experience with POC accounting;
- Strong knowledge of IFRS;
- Experience with ERP (SAP)/Power BI;
- Fluent in English;
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in an international operating company, preferably in a business-to-business and/or a project-oriented environment;
- The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, hands-on, direct, detail-oriented, and articulate;
- Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information to drive results;
- Ability to bring best practices;
