As Agora Think Tanks we develop politically feasible and science-based strategies and solutions for the transformation to climate neutrality. Along with overarching questions of climate policy, the successful transformation to a climate-neutral energy system is at the core of our work. With around 180 employees at four locations worldwide, we advise decision-makers and facilitate a productive exchange of ideas. Because no single institution can tackle the complexity of the transition from fossil fuels to renewables and to climate neutrality, we cultivate an intensive dialogue with stakeholders from politics, civil society, the economy, and science and is active in a global network of think tanks promoting the net-zero transition. As a non-profit organisation we act independently and free from economic or party-political interests. We currently employ around 20 people in our office in Brussels. Our headquarters is in Berlin.

Our work requires not only climate and energy experts, but also the support of specialists in administration of different kinds as crucial and highly valued members of the team. To strengthen our HR team, we are looking for a HR Officer - Belgium Payroll & Administration (f/m/d) Brussels-based; part-time 20h to 25h per week.

You will be part of a committed and collegial HR team, work very closely with colleagues from other departments and especially support our HR and payroll administration of our employees in Brussels.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Handling the monthly payroll cycle for our Brussels office, incl. administration of employee attendance and various benefits to ensure timely payments in close coordination with the responsible HR Managers;
  • Administrative tasks and formalities related to Belgian tax and social security obligations, safety at work or insurances connected to the Belgian payroll;
  • Support the employee and contract administration; preparation of certificates, references and other documents;
  • Being the contact person for our external payroll office in Belgium as well as for our employees in Brussels;
  • Active participation in the implementation and further development of HR topics such as time tracking;
  • Supporting the preparation of foreign assignments for our employees in Brussels within and outside the EU as well as new employees when applying for visa documents in close coordination with the responsible HR Managers;
  • Support the HR team in organisational and administrative processes.

We are looking for:

  • A Degree in payroll and/or personnel administration or in a similar field;
  • First professional experience in HR, payroll or personnel administration in Belgium;
  • Very confident handling of MS Office applications;
  • Knowledge of Belgian tax, social security and labor law is an advantage;
  • Full proficiency level of English; preferably good knowledge of French and Dutch;
  • Willingness to travel to the Berlin headquarters at irregular intervals (no extensive travel);
  • An independent, structured working-style and a high level of service orientation; and
  • a friendly and open demeanor.
