The European Society of Surgical Oncology (ESSO) is recruiting a Communication and Project Coordinator.

About ESSO:

ESSO’s mission is to support its members in advancing the science and practice of surgical oncology for the benefit of cancer patients. The Society aims to achieve this through a range of activities related to education, research and leadership in multidisciplinary care.

Responsibilities:

Communication

  • To produce and circulate the ESSO quarterly electronic newsletter: research, develop and write/edit content in English;
  • To draft articles, press releases as appropriate;
  • To develop all electronic communications to membership and various stakeholders (website, marketing e-mails, e-broadcasts);
  • To develop ESSO promotional and marketing material and brief the designer accordingly;
  • To update the ESSO website;
  • To communicate on ESSO activities via social media (Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook);
  • To build and maintain ESSO’s stakeholders network;
  • To support the Public Affairs and Communication Committees (preparation, organisation and follow-up of meetings);
  • To attend courses, conferences and congresses when appropriate.

Projects:

  • To provide support to ESSO educational activities for specific projects, in particular:
    • Fellowships and Exchange Programmes;
    • European Board of Surgery examination;
    • ESSO educational courses;
    • Webinars.
  • To coordinate the work of other specific projects and committees;
  • To support the ESSO GA, Board meetings and committee meetings if and when appropriate.

Skills specifications:

  • Advanced administrative and computer skills;
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, other languages an asset;
  • Highly developed written skills and excellent communication skills;
  • Strong organizational and planning skills;
  • Ability to support committee meetings.

Profile and experience:

  • Preferably university degree or equivalent;
  • A good working experience of at least 4 years in an international environment;
  • Experience in setting up meetings/conferences/training/educational programmes;
  • Ability to think creatively;
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritise and work under set deadlines;
  • Multitask oriented and stress-resistant;
  • Good people skills and mature, polite, professional and empathetic manners;
  • Capacity to interact with a wide variety of international scientific experts;
  • Flexible and willing to travel.
