Position Summary

We are seeking a Director, Participant & Alumni Impact – Europe who will serve as the critical liaison for a portfolio of 7-10 partner organizations in the Europe region in the areas of classroom and system leadership. This position provides an individual with superior coaching, leadership, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills the opportunity to serve as a key contributor to the success of all organizations in the Teach For All network. This position will report to the Lead Director, Participant & Alumni Impact – Europe.

Outcomes

The Director, Participant & Alumni Impact will aim to maximize the impact of our partners by daily leveraging regional and global best practices in the areas of classroom and system leadership, advancing and learning from his/her region’s work. The individual will be charged with accelerating the impact of our network partners, teacher participants and alumni through the development of their leadership. In addition to working with partner staff individually, the Director will be expected to build and strengthen regional and global connections and collaboration between partners. The Director will drive progress towards network impact indicators (which include but are not limited to measures related to student achievement, participant learning and growth, alumni leadership and partner satisfaction).

Responsibilities

TheDirector, Participant & Alumni Impact’s primary responsibility is to support partners in the region to strengthen the overall design and implementation of their teacher training and alumni functions. Activities might include:

  • 40% - Coaching local organization senior staff to design and implement teacher training programs that dramatically accelerate student achievement and develop a robust alumni movement, both virtually and in person;
  • Help peers and partner staff self-reflect and identify patterns in their work and behavior;
  • Coaching partner staff to develop their confidence and ability to support their teachers and alumni;
  • Capturing and synthesizing the region’s knowledge and providing thought partnership related to key programmatic questions in the areas of participant and alumni impact;
  • 20% - Creating resources and tools that can be used by local organizations that highlight key insights and learnings from around the Teach For All network;
  • 15% - Designing and executing conferences and small group learning experiences that advance the thinking and practice of local organizations;
  • 15% - Collaboration and learning within the internal Teach For All team, including the European regional team and the global Participant & Alumni Impact team;
  • 10% - Facilitating direct peer connections between local organizations so they can learn from each other;

In addition to doing the above within the region, this role will also be called upon to support these areas globally where appropriate (e.g. leading on knowledge development in a particular area; running a conference for global participants) and to support the overall direction of the team.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience;
  • Experience successfully solving complex and dynamic problems required;
  • Experience working internationally and/or in cross-cultural environments is a highly preferred;
  • Prior experience developing knowledge-sharing experiences (online platforms, trainings, etc.) is preferred;
  • Prior experience in teacher impact (e.g. supporting/coaching/managing teachers) and/or alumni impact (e.g. supporting alumni programming) as a staff member of Teach For All or one our network partners is a distinct advantage;
  • Prior experience as a participant in one of Teach For All’s network partner organizations is a plus but not required; prior experience as a teacher is a distinct advantage;
  • Experience working and/or living in the region is preferred.

  • Fluency in European regional languages (German, French, Spanish, etc.) is preferred, but not required.

Basic knowledge of at least some, but not all, of the following required: Coaching skills, adult leadership development, knowledge of pedagogy, educational system reform, social movements are all advantages for this role, but not required.
